Arsenal’s 2012-2013 season kicked off this past Saturday with an opener against Sunderland. An estimated 150 Bay Area Gooners packed Maggie McGarry’s Irish Pub at 7AM to cheer on the Gunners.
The match also served as a food drive for the San Francisco Food Bank, and the Gooners did not disappoint, bringing in close to 100 pounds of food. Everyone who contributed was entered into a half-time drawing for some great merchandise, graciously donated by Fox Soccer Channel.
Somewhat predictably, Sunderland parked the bus, and despite Arsenal having almost 70% of the possession, the clubs played to a frustrating nil-nil draw.
Still, everyone had a good time and agreed it was good to be back in the company of fellow Gooners again.
SITE UPDATE: If you’ve visited the site this past week, you may have encountered a placeholder page. That’s because one of our East Bay Gooners, Brian Espinosa has been working tirelessly with me, to transition the rather clunky existing site (built some years back by yours truly) to a Word Press site.
Once finished, I’ll be able to update site content (match-viewing info, pictures, blog posts, etc) much quicker and with relative ease. Thank you for your patience during this transition.
See you at the pub!
