A familiar story unfolded yesterday. Arsenal starts brightly against an opponent, their domination of possession and precision moving the ball masking an inability to score or defend when it really mattered.
Belaboring our injuries or the referee’s performance does not accurately reflect Chel$ki’s workmanlike domination. Would a healthy Robin van Persie been the difference? I’m not so sure.
I’m not, by any stretch of the imagination, a religious person, but there is a quote from the Book of Daniel, Chapter 5, Verses 25/28 that sums it up for me:
Thou art weighed in the balances and art found wanting.
Thanks to everyone who turned up at Maggie’s yesterday for the match. At least you stayed until the end, unlike much of the Emirates crowd who seemed to be streaming out with 5-6 minutes to play. Understandable? Maybe. Disheartening? Definitely.
We’ll be back there next weekend for the match against Stoke City and hope for a better result.
